Feed the Pig!
It's that time again to "Bring Home the Bacon". April is financial literacy month and that means we are in competition with the other Student-Run Apple Federal Credit Unions to deposit the most money into your accounts. If we save the most money everyone that makes a deposit will get to take part in a pizza party and bring home the coveted Pig Trophy. So let's "Feed Our Pigs" and start saving at AFCU in the 2nd floor cafeteria during all lunches! Lets go Stonewall!!!!
Student Finance Survey
Apple has been paired up with a local company that is conducting a survey to try and understand what students attitudes are towards money and finances. We need as many students as possible to take this short survey (approximately 10 questions) by Friday May 1. All students here at SJHS can participate and help by clicking on this link and completing the survey.
2015 Spring End-of-Course SOL tests
The 2015 Spring End-of-Course SOL tests will be given May 6 through May 21st. Click here to view the complete schedule for all subject areas. As a reminder, cell phones or any other electronics are not allowed in a test room.  If you have one at any point during a test session, you will be marked as cheating and will receive a score of zero for the test and will not be allowed to test again during the same test administration.  You will also receive a discipline referral.
Exam Schedule
As the end of the school year approaches, so do Final Exams.  Click here for the REVISED (4/22/15) schedule.  Students and parents are reminded that during Final exam weeks, all absences from exams require pre-approval from an administrator.  Absences compromise test security and complicate the grade reporting process.  Very few requests for make-up exams will be granted.  Acceptable reasons for missing an exam include a death in the family, a court date or a serious illness.  Please schedule doctor’s appointments and family trips around these exam weeks.
Attention Junior Class of 2016
Victor O'Neill Studios will be here from June 1st through June 4th to take your senior yearbook, cap and gown, and announcement photos.  Click here to find your picture date, time, and session number.  In the next few weeks you should be getting a picture ticket in the mail that will have all of this information on it, and it will also serve as your pass to leave class for pictures.  Please make sure you are in school on the day of your appointment and that you take your picture at the appropriate time.  All pictures will be taken in the auxiliary gym located in the back of the gymnasium.  If there are any questions, please contact Victor O'Neill Studios at 703-532-0013.
Class of 2015 Graduation
The Commencement Exercises for the Class of 2015 have been confirmed for June 9, 2015 at Jiffy Lube Live at 7:00 pm. Click here to read a copy of the Document of Decorum for the 2015 Graduation Ceremony.
Sea Perch Nationals
Eze Price, Atsu Kludze and Michael Pierce are going to SeaPerch Nationals in Boston! SeaPerch is an underwater robotics program in which students build an underwater Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) to compete in various challenges. They competed in the Sea Perch Regional Competition at Manassas Park on March 27th. They are assisted by their teacher and sponsor, Jerome Hruska! Way to go Raiders!
Stonewall Celebrates Autism Awareness Month
April is Autism Awareness month. Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and autism are both general terms for a group of complex disorders of brain development. These disorders are characterized, in varying degrees, by difficulties in social interaction, verbal and nonverbal communication and repetitive behaviors. Autism statistics from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention identify around 1 in 68 American children as on the autism spectrum. Stonewall Jackson HS is helping raise awareness and monies for our special education department this month with posters, art showcases and fundraisers. We are Stonewall Strong!
