Divisionwide Announcements
Shop for School Tax-Free before School Begins; Virginia Sales Tax Holiday is August 1–3
July 21, 2014

School supplies selling for $20 or less per item and articles of clothing, including footwear, selling for $100 or less per item will be exempt from sales tax during the Virginia Sales Tax Holiday scheduled for Friday, August 1 through Sunday, August 3.

Families with children in Prince William County Public Schools are encouraged to take advantage of these savings to prepare their students for the upcoming school year. Check your school’s Web site or call your school for a copy of the 2014–15 supply list. For a directory of schools, go to pwcs.edu and click on “Schools,” then select the directory by grade level.

Beginning July 28, SPARK, the Education Foundation for PWCS, will collect school supplies at the Kelly Leadership Center to help ensure that all student have the back-to-school basics they need to return to school ready to learn. The Kelly Leadership Center is located at 14715 Bristow Road, Manassas, VA 20112
Most-needed items include backpacks, 3-ring binders, tabbed dividers, folders with pockets, spiral notebooks, loose-leaf paper, colored pencils, pencil boxes/bags, tissues, hand sanitizer, marble composition books, ink pens (blue or black), No. 2 pencils, washable markers, crayons, highlighters, glue/glue sticks, rounded scissors, index cards, and graph paper.

Building Renovations
Stonewall Jackson HS is currently undergoing some renovations.  Until further notice, students and/or children are not permitted in the main part of the building. Vistors to SJHS should enter the school through the gymnasium.  Thank you for your support and assistance during this project.
SJHS Band Spirit Night at Chick-Fil-A
On Tuesday, July 29th from 4-8 PM, the SJ band program will be having a spirit night at the Chick-Fil-A off of Sudley Manor Road!  When you go between these hours, all you have to do is say that you are supporting the SJ band program and a portion of the sale goes directly back to the band program, at no cost to you.  This is a great way to support the band and the school!  Go Raiders!
Summer Assignments
The 2014 reading lists and summer assignments for all grades are posted on the Summer Assignments webpage, also accessible under the "For Students & Parents" menu to the left.  Any summer assignments will be added as they become available.
SJHS New Student Registration
Stonewall Jackson High School will be registering New Students during the summer for the 2014 - 2015 school year.  Registration will begin June 24th on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.  To schedule an appointment please call the Guidance Department between 7 a.m. and 12 p.m. or between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. at 703-365-2993 or 703-365-2992.
PRTC’s teen program, MyLink
Anyone ages 13-19 can get a MyLink Pass and get unlimited local bus rides for 3 months for $30. This year’s program runs from June 2 – Aug. 30. Click here to view the flyer or visit the MyLink page on the PRTC website.
